supergrid
As the world gets more and more fractured and mapped by endless amounts of data - why not play with those building blocks to visualize and reflect on that very process?
Literally building upon this idea, SUPERGRID is also an ongoing procedural exploration and homage to my fascination for superstructures and geometric shapes of all kinds.
Inspired by city infrastructures, architecture, electronics, Mondrian paintings, math, Legos (of course) and Origami alike, I explore and combine several techniques including python scripting, heavy node-setup-sorcery, procedural shading, deriving data from OSM databases, recursive subdivision and many more.
Focusing exclusively on hard-edge geometries and cubic structures also makes this series a counterpart to my other, more free-flowing, organic works.
